Our Program

Our creative curriculum fosters a genuine love of learning — one rooted in curiosity, confidence, and hands-on discovery. Academic skills are woven naturally into rich, theme-based experiences that emerge from children’s own interests, making every project purposeful, engaging, and deeply meaningful. We believe children thrive when learning feels relevant to their world and connected to the people around them.

Every activity is thoughtfully tailored to each age and developmental stage, honoring the individual needs and pace of each child. Our diverse team of educators brings learning to life through daily circle time, dramatic play, sensory exploration, fine motor activities, STEM, arts and crafts, music, movement, gardening, cooking, and gross motor play — creating an environment where thinking, reasoning, experimenting, and making choices feel natural and joyful.

Our learning approach creates experiences for children in both large and small groups, giving them many opportunities to communicate, interact, work, and play together. Each child’s voice is heard to create a balance between belonging to a group and a sense of self. Through positive guidance and a focus on self-regulation, children build the interpersonal skills and vocabulary they need to navigate the world with kindness and resilience.

Our balanced approach brings together the best of early childhood wisdom and modern learning science.

Themes

Children explore the world through engaging thematic units. Our themes are designed to capture the interest and imagination of children. Our themes include learning about feelings, nutrition, teamwork, gratitude, sharing and giving, modes of transportation, cultural diversity, social justice, the environment, insects and animals, Holidays, and special days in life like graduating from preschool!

These themes help children know who they are, appreciate their community, environment, history, and the world at large, become well-rounded individuals, and make healthy life choices.

New ideas and concepts are introduced in multiple formats, such as art, drama, print, and puppetry, so that all children have a chance to connect with the concepts being presented. Our early learning programs aim to nurture young minds through these immersive, inclusive experiences.

After moving to LA we looked around everywhere for a good preschool for our children and we were so fortunate to find WHCA. The teachers are warm and nice to the children and parents. Owners pour their hearts into this preschool. They have healthy balance between learning through play, academics, languages, arts, and music. They have a strong reading program that prepares children for school. They have great outdoor environment. Also, I am impressed by their choice of healthy organic food. Our son has been attending the preschool for 2 years.

West Hollywood Children's Academy was established in 1991, providing services for the community at the current location since 1998. It is sad to notice people writing ridiculous reviews to tarnish business reputation just because there was no availability to enroll...or someone applied and was not hired as a teacher. Also, West Hollywood is upscale and trendy city nowdays. There is no ex convict living in the nearby apartment building at this point as written in the fictional review of non-existing person. We checked with WeHo city officials and the landlords.

Our family love this school - we sent our child here from age 2.5 and they quickly jumped into all the creative teaching the school offers. Our favorite is they offer Spanish lessons as a well as interactive music and animal classes to get the kids excited. Would recommend this school and the staff to any parent!

I can’t say enough good things about weho children’s academy. My daughter has been going there for 6 months now and I’m so glad I chose them. I was so nervous to send her to daycare but the teachers made her and us feel so comfortable. My daughter talks about ms B all the time. The teachers are so nurturing and I love that she is learning so much at the same time. We love seeing pictures of zoology class where she has gotten to see so many different real animals in person. I love the constant photo and video updates and they have great and quick communication at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

My daughter is going on her third year at WHCA and we couldn’t recommend it enough. The teachers are kind, supportive, caring, and collaborative. Our daughter looks forward to going every day. The confidence my daughter feels I know is a direct result to how she’s grown in this environment and feels supported.

When choosing a school for our baby girl we went through 12 schools in the area and decided this would be the one for our kid. Our main focus was the diversity of classes, high quality food but most importantly loving and caring teachers and children’s safety. Our daughter came in very shy not being able to speak English at all (we’re Russian speaking household) and first couple of months it wasn’t easy for us cause she didn’t want to speak English wanted back to her previous daycare and her Russian friends but all the teachers and personal working there took such good care of her and made her feel at home, now it’s been 6 months since she started here and she speaks English more day by day, making new friends and feels absolutely happy. We’re so grateful to our teachers for taking such good care of her and giving a sense of community not only for our daughter but for us parents as well.

This is the way a neighborhood preschool should be -- and it's doubly rare in sprawling Los Angeles. Expertly run by an administrator with decades of experience. An owner who cares about doing things right. Teachers who love their jobs. Many of the kids come from the area. They're also diverse, too, which we loved. So we have birthday parties in the nearby park, nature walks organized by parents, on top of all the lovely activities that the school provides. It's a pillar of our local lives, just a lovely lovely place.

After touring several preschools, this was immediately our top choice. It was also the furthest from our home, yet we happily made the drive every day because this school felt truly special and one of a kind. The balance of creative and academic activities is so thoughtfully done. Each day is thoroughly designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Ms. Maria, Ms. Beatrice, and Ms. Angela are truly incredible. Their patience, kindness, and genuine love for the children made such a meaningful difference in our son's growth and confidence. They supported him beautifully in his learning and were especially amazing during potty training; always encouraging, gentle, and positive. Watching him thrive in their care has meant everything to us. Ms. Julia brings a level of professionalism, care, and organization that is truly felt throughout the school. She clearly understands how to thoughtfully run a preschool while still maintaining a warm, family like environment. We are endlessly grateful for the love, care, and strong foundation this school has given our son. West Hollywood Children's Academy is truly a gem, and we would recommend it without hesitation to any family looking for the very best preschool experience.

Finding affordable and excellent childcare was incredibly stressful, but WHCA has been a true gift to our family. Our child (age 2/3) spent a full year here, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From day one, the teachers were warm, patient, and supportive , especially during the transition to a new school. They helped our child feel safe, brave, and genuinely excited to come each morning. Also great support for potty training! We were impressed by the enriching and thoughtful programming which includes visits from outside educators for dance classes, Spanish lessons, and zoology sessions with real animals! The learning was hands-on, engaging, and age-appropriate. Our child grew quite alot. Another big plus was the great communication. WHCA uses the Brightwheel app to share updates, photos, and messages throughout the day, helping us feel connected even while we were apart. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing what our child was doing, learning, and enjoying in real time. It’s rare to find a preschool that offers such a high level of care, education, and communication, while still being accessible and affordable. WHCA exceeded our expectations in every way and we will miss attending very much. This is a real nurturing, creative environment and highly recommend them to other families!

Our admission procedure is simple and prioritizes the availability of space alongside a preference for siblings of enrolled students. Monthly tuition is settled by the last day of the preceding month. Should the need to withdraw arise, we kindly request a 30-day notice.

Tuition Inclusions

Investing in your child’s education at WHCA is all-encompassing. The tuition fee covers wholesome organic meals — a hot lunch and two snacks daily — and various enrichment classes designed to support your child’s overall development.

Empowering Individual Voices Within a Community

Understanding that education is not one-size-fits-all, our curriculum dynamically adapts to serve the group best, infusing fun into the foundation of our educational activities. From the outset, we lay the groundwork for literacy, with our preschoolers embarking on their reading journey in a stimulating and supportive setting.

Our philosophy acknowledges the significance of both smaller individualized learning experiences and the opportunities presented by larger group interactions. Children are encouraged to communicate, interact, and collaborate, ensuring each child’s voice contributes to a harmonious balance between a sense of self and community belonging.

Building Life Skills Through Thematic Learning

As our children travel through various thematic units, each theme is carefully designed to captivate their interest and ignite their imaginations. They are taken on a journey through feelings, nutrition, teamwork, gratitude, sharing and giving, modes of transportation, cultural diversity, social justice, the environment, insects and animals, holidays, and special days in life.

These themes serve as windows into the world, assisting children in understanding who they are and valuing their community, planet, heritage, and rich tapestry of the world around them. They are stepping stones toward becoming well-rounded individuals who can make informed and healthy choices.

Diverse Methods to Inspire Diverse Minds

We recognize every child’s uniqueness and the diversity of their learning styles. That’s why we introduce new concepts through various formats – art, drama, print, and puppetry – so that every child can find their own connection to the material. Aside from learning, we want to create meaningful experiences that last a lifetime.

Our curriculum draws on the collective strength of empathy, social skills like perspective-taking and turn-sharing, and respectful interactions. These serve as a foundation for children to forge lasting friendships and stand firm against bullying as they progress through elementary and middle school.
