Preschool
West Hollywood Children’s Academy’s preschool offers a warm, engaging, and developmentally rich environment tailored for children aged 3 to 4.
Our approach guides your child with the care, love, and understanding they need to grow, learn, and thrive. Collaboration is an essential element of our curriculum. Throughout the day, teachers ask thought-provoking questions, listen carefully to children’s answers, and in all interactions let children know that their ideas and investigations are important. In the children’s work and active exploration of their social and physical world, children make connections to language, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts.
Curiosity Leading the Way: By following each child’s natural curiosity and exploring it with scientific depth, we cultivate the executive function, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills that lay the foundation for lifelong success. Our approach prepares children not only for kindergarten but also for a lifetime of learning, adaptability, and discovery.
Authentic Environment: Our space is designed to feel like a second home: warm, cozy, and filled with materials, children’s projects, and toys. A child’s environment should reflect their own work and wonder.
Stability: our children stay in the same group from September through August. The year long bond builds the sense of trust and safety that isn’t possible in flexible models where children change or rotate.

Fine and Gross Motor Skills Development
In our playground and backyard, children find the freedom to explore and enhance their coordination through running, jumping, and bicycle riding. Within our classrooms, we prioritize artistic expressions, dancing, and musical activities that bolster creativity and aid in refining fine motor skills. Through these carefully designed activities, your child will develop balance, coordination, and a sense of rhythm, fostering a healthy growth of their five senses.

Social Development
We emphasize the importance of social interaction by creating opportunities for both large and small group activities. These experiences encourage communication, collaboration, and the joy of learning and playing together. Through these interactions, children learn invaluable life skills such as kindness, empathy, generosity, and gratitude, establishing the foundation for being considerate peers in the future.

Emotional Awareness
Understanding and managing emotions is crucial in how children engage with the world. With love at the core of our approach, we aim to boost self-esteem and foster socialization through play. Our supportive environment also focuses on helping children identify and express their feelings, cultivating emotional intelligence. Through arts, music, and literary expressions, we offer avenues for emotional exploration and expression.

Language Development
We view language as a vital tool for children to express themselves and make sense of the world around them. Children develop letter recognition, phonemic awareness, early writing skills, through developmentally appropriate activities that feel like play.
Our curriculum includes puzzles, singing exercises, storytelling, and poem recitation to improve articulation, listening skills, and attention spans, setting the stage for effective communication.

Introduction to STEAM
Our exciting STEAM activities are designed to pique curiosity and introduce early scientific concepts. From gardening and botany to cooking classes and understanding the life cycles of animals and insects through our zoology enrichment program, we offer diverse hands-on experiences. We also introduce the concept of the solar system in a manner appropriate for their age.
Our unique approach to “Creative Math,” which uses tangible materials for learning, allows children to naturally develop an understanding of mathematical concepts through organization and categorization of the world around them.
Learning Through Exploration Every Day
Great early learning happens through experience, not memorization. Our preschool program is built around hands-on exploration so that children encounter new ideas in ways that feel natural and exciting.
Each day may include a mix of:
- STEAM projects and creative problem-solving
- Art and creative expression
- Spanish language exposure
- Music and movement
- Zoology and nature exploration
- Dramatic play and storytelling
- Outdoor play and gross motor activities
Activities evolve throughout the year to reflect what children are curious about and what they are ready to take on next.
